Travel Arrangements
Ubon Ratchathani University is located in Amphur Warin Chamrab in Ubon Ratchathani Province. We are approximately 500 kilometers from Bangkok. There are a variety of ways to get here. We would suggest that you make your travel plans between Bangkok and Ubon early as Friday December 5, 2008 is Father's Day, The King's Birthday and travel that week-end is likely to be heavy. How to get here:
By Bus: A bus from Bangkok to Ubon takes 9-10.5 hours. Northeastern Bus Terminal (Mor Chit) Kamphaengpet Rd Tel. +66 2 936 3666, 537 8055. The new Mor Chit bus terminal has just been completely renovated to have a modern look. It is air-conditioned and has facilities such as convenience stores, fast food outlets, a food center and restaurants, left luggage area and telephones. Bus fares are about 300-600 baht.

By Train: There are 7 trains (ordinary, rapid, and express) from Bangkok to Ubon Ratchathani and 7 back every day. (Timetable. Please click on the link for Northeastern Line.) For more information in country, please contact: Tel. 223-7010, 223-7020. Fares run from 245 baht one way (3rd class seat / fan) to 1180 baht one way for 1st class A/C sleeper.
By Plane: Ubon Ratchathani is services by Thai Airways International and Air Asia.
AIR ASIA has 1 flight each day to and from Ubon and the cost is currently 900 baht each way plus taxes.
THAI AIRWAYS has a promotion for international travelers during 2008 that gives you a chance to see more of Thailand by offering a special pass that entitles you to fly to 3 cities for only US$ 199. The three coupons can be utilized to fly economy class to any of THAI's domestic airports during a period of 3 months.
FARES:
USD 199 for first 3 coupons.
USD 59 for each additional flight coupon.
A maximum of 8 coupons permitted.
PERIOD OF APPLICATION:
Fares are valid for sale & travel commencing on/after 01 JAN 08.
Applicable period is from 01 JAN 2008 to 31 DEC 2008.
